Japan Box Office: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Stays at No.1 in 2nd Weekend

After making a No.1 debut last weekend, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, the sequel film to the Chainsaw Man TV anime series, added 799.7 million yen (5.41 million USD) on 523,000 admissions in its second weekend, a 36% week-on-week drop, and remained in the top spot for two consecutive weekends according to Kogyo Tsushinsha.

Animate Times reported that the film now has a 10-day cumulative of 2.98 billion yen (20.16 million USD) earned from 1.96 million ticket sales, since debuting in Japanese cinemas on September 19. Reze Arc has become the fifth top-grossing Japanese anime film of 2025, surpassing Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- and Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Cho Karei! Shakunetsu no Kasukabe Dancers.

In its 11th weekend, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle earned 447 million yen (3.02 million USD) on 271,000 admissions and maintained its second-place position from last weekend. The film's cumulative total domestic gross has reached 35,064,331,400 yen (237 million USD) on 24,266,753 admissions in 73 days since its release according to the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise's official X (formerly Twitter) account

The second live-action theatrical film adaptation of Kaiji Kawaguchi's political-military manga The Silent Service (Chinmoku no Kantai in Japan), subtitled "Hokkyokukai Daikaisen" (translated to "The Great Sea Battle of The Arctic Ocean"), opened in 345 theaters on September 26, ranking third in its opening weekend with 282 million yen (1.91 million USD) on 195,000 admissions. The first weekend gross was 76.2% of that (370 million yen) of the first film released in September 2023. The film ranked third in Filmarks' first-day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 3.96/5.0 based on 818 reviews.

Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru KirakkiLive! (You and Idol Precure The Movie: For You! Our Kirakilala Concert!), the feature film edition of the ongoing You and Idol Precure♪ anime series, went down one position to seventh in its third weekend. Meanwhile, the anime film adaptation of Uoto's (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) sports manga 100 METERS ranked 10th, two positions down from its opening weekend.

Aqours Documentary, a documentary film focusing on the Love Live! Sunshine!! anime series' nine-member voice actor unit Aqours, opened in 111 theaters across Japan on September 26. While not appearing in the overall top 10 ranking, the unit's first and last documentary topped Filmarks' first-day satisfaction ranking with an overwhelming average rating of 4.63/5.0 based on 145 reviews.
