Sakamoto Days

Following up on the latest Shonen Jump issue’s reveal of a live-action Sakamoto Days movie, the first teaser visual is here with a release window. Fans of Yuto Suzuki’s series can look for the feature film to premiere in Japanese cinemas during 2026’s Golden Week holiday, which falls between April 29 and May 6 of next year.

Though no cast or staff announcements have been made, the live-action visual of Taro Sakamoto captures the vibe well. More info is on the way on September 23, so there could be another followup very soon.

Sakamoto Days Live-Action Movie Visual

The original Sakamoto Days manga series, created by Yuto Suzuki, has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since November 21, 2020, with 23 collected volumes in Japan and 18 translated and released into English. The anime adaptation directed by Masaki Watanabe (Bartender) at TMS Entertainment premiered in January 2025, with Netflix streaming.

The manga releases weekly on the Shonen Jump app and through VIZ Media, which who describes the series:

Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!
